Focus of the book: Michael Cooper, who died in 2005, was a busy photographer of motor racing in the 1960’s, covering everything from F1 to sports car racing, capturing traditional-style photographs of cars but also rather unusual images of drivers, team managers, marshals and spectators, showing the glamour (or not) of the locations the races were taking place.

If you have any interest in motorsport history and/or photography, I can recommend this book as great addition to your collection as it really shows many situations from a very different and unique angle.

“Races, Faces, Places” is a stunning visual delight with a wonderful mix of black and white and color images. The book is largely chronological with occasional two-page spreads that help showcase the amazing detail in the photographs. The captions are extremely informative and help tell “the rest of the story.”
