| My Comment | 2002 was the first year with the new track layout right after the Dunlop curve: Following a reconstruction of the Bugatti Circuit, the Le Mans circuit was changed between the Dunlop bridge and Esses, with the straight now becoming a set of fast sweeping turns.
2002 was the year with the LMP900 and LMP675 classes, as well as with the LMGTS and LMGT classes. Everybody was curious whether Audi could repeat their success with the Audi R8, having won the overall victory in 2000 and 2001.
Michel Vaillant: 2002 featured two special cars on the starter grid, Number 10 (a blue prototype from a team called Vaillant) and Number 22 (a red prototyp from a team called "Leader Team"), both being there for shooting the movie "Michel Vaillant" during the real race! |
