This is the successor of GT Racer Season 1 of classic vintage GT car racing and I like it much much better than the first season mainly because this one features 50 minutes of the 24 hours Le Mans Classic 2008 race as well as the hardest and legendary vintage racing event Carrera Panamericana! All in all this is a true treasure again on 2 DVDs!
It is divided into the following episodes and has a total length of 197 minutes:
1) The 24 Hours of Le Mans Classic 2008 (having 300 vintage racer entries!)
2) 500km Nürburgring Marathon
3) Magny Cours
4) Legendary Carrera Panamericana! Click here for details
Plateau 1: Pre-War
Plateau 2: 1949-1956
Plateau 3: 1957-1961
Plateau 4: 1962-1965
Plateau 5: 1966-1971 (a Porsche 917 was also participating!)
Plateau 6: 1972-1979
Episode 1 of this movie (Le Mans Classics) is about 50 minutes and shows really absolutely awesome scenes!!
But unfortunately it only shows footage of Plateau 4… so the teams and cars are always the same and gets a little bit of a repetitive spin in this movie… It would have been so great to see the other cars as well in more detail…
As not all 300 cars could race at the same time, the race was organized as follows:
- All cars were devided into groups called “plateau”, 6 of them
- Each group races 3 times within 24 hours and the results of each race are added together
It’s a pity that the movie makers did not have included interviews and details about other entries like Porsche, Ford, etc…
This primarily shows 3 teams:
- Ford Mustang in Blue (driven by Richard and Simon)
- Ford Mustang in White (driven by Jon and Martin)
- Ford Falcon in Yellow (driven by Marc and Rupert).
Awesome scenery, great sounds and lot of cool action footage, both on-board and along the track. You also see many other vintage cars in this 50 minutes documentation!
