Compared to all other books about the Porsche 917, this one has been written by one of the engineers that designed and constructed the well known racer. As a result the whole book is focusing on the construction and provides by far the richest details about the car. The large scale drawings are certainly one of the most impressive parts of the book. Additionally the book is based on Porsche archive materials only and also includes photographs that have never been shown to public so far. |

2008-Nov-24 (2nd edition, +25 pages!) | Focus of the book: Historical background stories, drivers, teams. This book is not only about the car but also very much about its drivers, events and the fascinating stories around its development. Compared to the book "Porsche 917 - Eine Erfolgsgeschichte" by the HEEL press, it does not cover all variations of each model but rather focuses on giving you the full historical chronology of the car. It reads more than a story than a technical book. |
