The book is fully written in german, therefore this summary is kept in german too: Wer kennt sie nicht, die klingenden Namen der traditionsreichen Rennstrecken aus dem Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts, wie Reims, Brooklands und Montlhéry. Doch an den meisten ruhmreichen Stätten, wo sich einst Größen wie Rosemeier, Novulari, Fangio oder Hill legendäre Rennschlachten lieferten, sind die Motoren längst verstummt, die Boxen leer und die Zufahrt zum Fahrerlager für immer gesperrt. An anderen Strecken wie Monza oder Nürburgring muss man sehr aufmerksam nach architektonischen Zeichen jener Zeit Ausschau halten, denn nur allzu häufig gingen sie bei Umbaumaßnahmen verloren. Die Autoren S.S. Collins und Gavin D. Ireland haben sich an Europas großen Rennkursen auf die Spurensuche nach Überresten längst vergangener Renn-Tage begeben. Dieser emotionale Bildband dokumentiert mit einzigartig stimmungsvollen Fotos, was von diesen Traditionsstrecken heute noch vorhanden ist und erzählt in lebendigem Stil ihre noch heute greifbare Geschichte. |
